We need alternative sources of energy because only these do not reduce the natural occurring resources of our world. Alternative sources of energy don't lead to any damage to the environment. The most known examples of alternative sources of energy are water, sun and wind. There are some other examples of alternative energy that are often in the news these days like bio-fuels these become more popular these days because of the fact that they seem to do no harm to the environment and they can be renewed very easily. But there are some unforeseen problems with bio-fuels.

Bio-fuels can lead to world hunger

Bio-fuels are easily obtainable and are derived from plants that contain plenty of sugar and this alternative source of energy can be used for heating a home and also for powering automobiles. But this kind of "renewable" energy does take in valuable farm land that should be used to produce food. We should use the energy crisis to start using alternative sources of energy like wind, solar and hydro energy. Alternative sources of energy will be the answer to many of the energy problems the world is facing.
