Hydroelectric energy is in essence created by a simple procedure, running water makes a turbine turn, this turbine sets of a generator and this way hydroelectric energy is produced. There may be many other components in the system but it all starts with the energy that is already available in the streaming water.
When you want to generate hydroelectric energy yourself around your home, you need a source that is relatively close to your house or to a suitable grid connection. Both will provide you with an excellent way to save money on power bills, when you have a stream close to home you can use the generated hydroelectric energy for your own use, you can use it directly or you can store it with the use of batteries. When the stream is closer to a grid connection and it is not practical to use it in your own home you can sell the electricity to power companies and make money this way. You can also create a combination of the two and only sell the energy you don't use to the grid.
